Meego appreciated by Intel

Director of Intel Open Source Technology Center "Imad Sousou" sent a letter to Nokia stating they will support Meego & appreciated the hard work.

An Update from Intel

What an interesting weekend. I am sure you can imagine what my inbox has looked the last few days. I appreciate your patience as the team works very hard on the MeeGo Software Platform to move things forward.

As you know, MeeGo has always been an open source platform with many supporters, Intel foremost among them. This support is consistent with our long track record in open source projects and platforms including MeeGo, Yocto embedded Linux, LessWatts, the Linux kernel, Linux graphics, Google Android, ChromeOS, KVM, and many others. At Intel, we work very hard to make sure the software our customers use and want to use, runs best on our hardware platforms.

MeeGo supports a wide variety of devices. It is shipping and there is momentum across multiple segments today, including automotive systems, netbooks, tablets, set-top boxes, and phones. MeeGo will continue to be hosted under the Linux Foundation, follow a governance model based on the best practices of open source development and function according to Linux Foundation rules.

With all the emphasis in the news about markets and companies, it's worth reminding ourselves what MeeGo stands for. MeeGo provides an open source, open governance platform that provides application and platform compliance. This is why over 100 ecosystem partners continue to support MeeGo. As for Intel, we'll let our code speak for itself.

Imad

Director of Intel Open Source Technology Center
