Mobile phones are improving and so are the mobile web browsers. Symbian platform has been critisized in the past for poor web browser performance. Symbian^3 browser is also not a treat to users. It is better if you use 3rd party browsers
1. Opera Mobile 10.1 : It is the best browser I have seen on any platform. From visual bookmarks to integrated cut paste funtionality. Pages load very fast especially when opera turbo is enabled. Flash content is rendered nicely thanks to flashlite 4 support. It scores a perfect 100 in the sunspider browser test. If you use a 3G network or wifi then you will love it.
However it is very RAM hungry and you will see lots of 'Memory full' error messages while loading heavy pages such as desktop view of Orkut or during multi tabbed browsing.
2. Opera Mini 5 : Basically it was meant for low end phones.
However it is very handy and lightweight and does not display out of memory options even with more than 10 tabs open. However flash content is a no go here. But this means pages load at lightning fast speed.
I am currenty using opera mini to write this post. I tried to do this with the inbuilt symbian browser and with opera mobile. The symbian browser crashed during uploading images while opera mobile ran out of memory.
3. S^3 browser : As I am writing this I remember that I have omitted one major feature of the previous two opera siblings. It is the multi tabbed browsing. I have become so used to of this feature on my laptop and on opera mini. I don't use the native symbian browser much because of this reason only. I hope nokia fixes this soon. If you want to browse youtube then it is the best just because no other browser supports flash player beta video playback, not even opera mobile.
4. UC Browser: Simply the best if you download more and browse less. Browsing is fast but i really dont like the font style. However it has a very good download manager with resume support. Opera also boasts of this feature but downloads fail too often on opera.
5. Bolt : It is a java based browser. Not many people know about this browser. And this is its main plus point. A few months ago Orkut banned desktop view on many mobile browsers including opera mini. However bolt manages to open orkut and many other such sites in full view despite being a java browser. It also supports multi tabbed browsing.
Bottomline : There is no perfect browser on symbian. It depends on your personal preference. If you want to have full browsing experience then buy a netbook. Nothing beats google chrome.
